There's a wealth of material about screening on this website for health and related professionals, as well as links to the websites of all the individual screening programmes in the UK.

A useful introductory video for professionals about the key concepts of screening (called 'NHS Screening: Doing More Good than Harm'), developed for the NICE conference in December 2009, can be found on the What is Screening? page.

The UK National Screening Committee (UK NSC):

• Find out about the role and remit of the UK NSC and read an interview with Dr Anne Mackie, UK NSC Director of Programmes
• Check out the policy database, with details of the 100+ health screening policies set by the by the UK NSC and find out about the process for reviewing policies

Screening Programmes around the UK:

• The programmes page lists all the screening programmes in each UK country and allows you to find out more about them, including visiting their own websites. It also includes a handy comparison chart to easily compare a specific type of screening across each UK country.

• The UK NSC Regional Teams are the people to contact for support around antenatal and newborn programmes in your part of England.
